Wirot pointed out disappointment with the stance of Prime Minister Anutin and Suchart threatening the Joint Private Sector Committee (JPC). He affirmed standing alongside the private sector against corruption to eliminate this menace from Thailand.
17 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Wirot Lakkhanaadisorn, former party-list Member of Parliament for the Prachachon Party (PCN). postedon Facebookunder the headline “Threatening to sue JPC over corruption survey results undermines the rule of law,” stating that the Joint Private Sector Committee (JPC) clearly said their data came from a business sector survey and was not fabricated. The Pollution Control Department, however, took a harsh stance against the JPC. What is especially disappointing is that Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, admitted he ordered the director-general of the Pollution Control Department to respond with that attitude and also threatened to sue or take legal action against the JPC.
Mr. Wirot further stated, even more disappointing was Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul’s interview remark: “If you dare to accuse someone of wrongdoing, you must be ready to be sued in return,” which is a stance deeply opposed to addressing corruption effectively. In developed countries, whistleblowers who expose or provide leads on corruption are protected under Whistleblower Protection laws, as outlined in Sections 131-135 of the Organic Act on Anti-Corruption. Yet, the Prime Minister seems unaware of this crucial principle, which is truly disappointing.
Additionally, Mr. Wirot urged the government to expedite the passage of two bills previously drafted by the Office of the Council of State: the Act on Offenses Related to Conflicts of Interest between Private and Public Benefits, and the Act on Recovering State Assets Lost to Corruption. He also expressed support and solidarity with the JPC, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Bankers’ Association, and all organizations dedicated to fighting corruption, including the Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) and Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT).
“I am very pleased to support and assist all your efforts to eradicate the threat of corruption completely from Thailand.”
