Teacher at Klangdong School Appeals to Education Minister to Restore Teaching Time, Stop Evaluations, and Revitalize Dilapidated 1976 Building

Prasert led a team to inspect schools in Kalasin Province, where teachers at Klangdong School appealed to restore teaching time, stop evaluation tasks, and renovate a deteriorating building dating back to 1976.

At 9:00 a.m. on 17 May 2026, Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, Minister of Education, accompanied by Mr. Wallop Rujirakorn, his secretary, and Mr. Tatiyaphat Pitisetthapan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, along with ministry officials, visited schools to assess readiness before the new semester, starting at Klangdong Rat Uppatham School under the Kalasin Primary Educational Service Area Office 1.

After hearing the situation, Mr. Prasert learned the school needs more teachers as some grades lack full staffing. They requested cancellation of non-teaching duties, noted the insufficient midday meal budget, and called for repairs to old, dilapidated buildings and structures, including electrical systems in the original school building constructed in 1976. They also requested improvements to the playground surface, which becomes unusable during rain due to flooding.

"I have emphasized five key education policies, urging everyone to prioritize education and monitor drug issues. The Ministry of Education plans to systematically reduce teachers’ workload, especially projects unrelated to teaching, which aligns with the teachers' concerns here. Additionally, the ministry will advance the ODOS 2.0 project to award scholarships to one student from each district nationwide to study abroad," said the minister. The Minister of Education added further remarks.
