“Wiroj” Joins 34th Anniversary of “May 1992” Urging Public to Endure and Unite to Create a Peoples Constitution

The People's Party commemorates the 34th anniversary of "May 1992," hoping for public cooperation in creating a people's constitution to break the cycle of coups. "Wiroj" calls for patience and unity to successfully establish the people's constitution once again.

On 17 May 2026 at Santi Phon Park, the May Democracy Memorial on Ratchadamnoen Road, Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, Deputy Leader of the People's Party, together with Panida Mongkolsawat, the party's Deputy Spokesperson, and Dr. Anusorn Thamjai, Member of Parliament for Bangkok's 31st District from the People's Party, joined the 34th anniversary commemoration of the May 1992 events.

Wiroj laid a wreath and paid tribute to the May 1992 democracy martyrs as a representative of the opposition leaders. He said, "I once believed that after society witnessed the losses and learned from the political violence in May 1992, coups would no longer happen. However, the coups in 2006 and 2014 made me and many others doubt that the country would be free from coups. The constitutions drafted by the coup makers usually lock reform options, and when they become trapped by their own conditions, they might create situations to stage another coup. Therefore, in this long struggle to break free from this harmful cycle, the people must endure and unite to create a people's constitution again. This is the only way Thailand can progress once more."

Wiroj also expressed his condolences and remembrance of the sacrifices of all the martyrs from the May 1992 events. He said, "Their sacrifices on that day made a significant contribution—the people's constitution. I sincerely hope that what our martyrs sacrificed will inspire all people today to realize this and bring about the people's constitution once again."
