Songsak Defends Prime Minister, Denies Neglecting Duty Amid Seripisuts Kaokradong Visit

Songsak dismisses Seripisut's visit to Kaokradong, emphasizing that residents hold lawful rights. He asserts that Anutin did not neglect his duties since he is not a land official, responding to threats of an ethics complaint to the Constitutional Court.

At 10:40 a.m. on 18 May 2026 GMT+7, Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri gave an interview at the Government House regarding Police General Seripisut Temiyavet, a party-list member of parliament for the Seri Ruam Thai Party, planning to visit Buriram Province to report the Chidchob family for encroaching land in the area of Kaokradong. He said the land belongs to Thai people who can go anywhere. As for who occupies Kaokradong, he is unaware because most residents hold land titles issued by the government’s Department of Lands. The constitution protects these rights, so those residing are legally occupying the land. Anyone claiming these documents are invalid must have the duty to prove otherwise.

When asked if Police General Seripisut has the right to inspect this matter, Songsak replied that he probably wants to visit to clarify the situation. When asked how he viewed this move, Songsak said, "It’s just news."

When further questioned about Seripisut’s intention to petition the Constitutional Court to remove Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiyachon Chidchob from office, alleging neglect of duty and serious ethical violations for not acting on the Kaokradong land issue, Songsak responded by asking, "Is the prime minister a land official? If not, then it does not involve the prime minister." .
