Pradorn Clarifies Government Can Proceed with Loan, No Impact on Thai Chuey Thai Plus Registration on 25 May

"Pradorn" confirms the government can proceed with borrowing as the Constitutional Court has not ordered a delay or halt. The Ministry of Finance will clarify within 7 days, assuring no impact on the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" registration on 25 May.

At 16:10 on 18 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Pradorn Prisanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, spoke at the Government House. Regarding the case of the Constitutional Court which resolved to accept the petition to review the decree granting the Ministry of Finance the authority to borrow funds to address impacts from the energy crisis and to support the country's energy transition in 2026 (" the 400 billion baht loan decree" ) for constitutionality. The court said it accepted the case and will review it, ordering the Ministry of Finance to provide clarification within 7 days. The court did not order a suspension, so any ongoing loan procedures or committee actions may continue.

When asked if, despite no court order to stop or delay, the government might consider postponing the process itself, Mr. Pradorn emphasized, the court did not order a halt. It is the Cabinet's authority that issued the loan decree. The court only asked for clarification within 7 days, which the government will provide. I have not yet met Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Pakorn Nilprapunt, but if I do, I will ask him.

Regarding whether this will affect the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" program which starts registration on 25 May, Mr. Pradorn responded, the registration scheduled by the government on 25 May will proceed as planned. .
