Chadchart revealed that his happy moments passed very quickly. He gave a tour of his office, saying it took two months to pack up. He emphasized that life has no end and one must keep moving forward. He rode a bicycle out of Bangkok City Hall, saying, "See you again on May 28, the day of the governor registration."
At 15:27 on 18 May 2026 at Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), after Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, completed his final duty of welcoming law and political science students from grades 10 to 12 at Hat Yai Witthayalai School to pay respects, he and the management team paid respects to the sacred shrine at Bangkok City Hall. He said that coming to pay respects at this time was not due to any auspicious timing, but simply because he had to do so before 17:00. After leaving office, he would need an access card to enter.
When asked what he prayed for, Chadchart said he wished that whatever happens would be good for the country. He stressed that he did not pray for his own return to office, only that the future outcomes be good for the nation. He said if he comes back and things are good, he hopes it happens; if returning would bring bad outcomes, he hopes it does not happen.
Inspiration from the people to continue
Mr. Chadchart also said that from the first day he took office until today, time has passed very quickly. "Happy times pass quickly." Regarding his inspiration to run for a second term, Chadchart said his motivation comes from the people. Seeing the people’s improved lives is the inspiration. If the people are satisfied, that encourages him to continue. In his first term, he solved many major problems that might not have been visible to the public, such as tunnels and electric trains, which are all major arteries. All of this must be done in parallel with solving smaller, local issues, but efforts must be made. . Increasing productivity More productivity and the use of appropriate technology are needed to enhance the city’s efficiency and strength, so Bangkok can stand strong and compete with cities worldwide. The economy must also be stronger to ensure that people live well.
Spent two months packing up
Mr. Chadchart also shared that another inspiration to run for a second term as Bangkok governor came from "Saendee, my son." who told him to run again and laughed, saying he must listen to his son. Then Chadchart went to his office to pack up the remaining items, saying, "There isn’t much left in the office because I had been packing gradually beforehand. It took about two months to finish. Most of the items are books and amulets acquired during my work, all kept in the office." There are also old amulets in this office that have never been moved or adjusted because he felt the arrangement was good as it was. He never changed the feng shui.
Chadchart opened up about working in this office for four years, saying, "It was good, but today having to pack up doesn’t feel special because it’s not the first time. From being a private company executive to Minister of Transport, everything happened suddenly. The feeling is the same: when the time comes, you pack your bags and leave. During my time as Bangkok governor, I rarely worked in this office. Mostly, I stayed in another room where I met with my team, which was more convenient for asking questions and giving orders. All equipment has been returned to the government, even the laptop which I bought new and transferred data onto my personal device."
Starting a new journey
Today, he planned to fly to visit his son and continue working tonight. He said this is just the beginning, not the end — a new journey. He added, "Life is not a commodity, so it never ends. When my term as governor ends, I start again at one. It never ends. I have to think about the future and keep working, working, working. After traveling abroad and seeing my son, I will rest and have time to exercise because the country there is beautiful. The past 3-4 months have been turbulent at home." He concluded by telling the media, "See you again on May 28 for the Bangkok governor registration."
Then at 16:50, after completing his duties, Mr. Chadchart bid farewell and thanked the public and media after serving a full four-year term. He stated that work always has a beginning and an end, which is normal. The past four years have been happy and enjoyable, and time passed quickly. He believes that working with hope and determination makes time pass quickly. He hopes that what he has done will benefit the people at least somewhat. Although not everyone was pleased, he affirmed he never intended to cause trouble. He wants to see Bangkok become a better and more developed city.
After his farewell, Chadchart rode a bicycle, Bike sharing, out of Bangkok City Hall with Mr. Wisanu to take the skytrain home. The atmosphere was cheerful, with applause and support for Chadchart.
