Cabinet Approves Raising Skill Standards for Four Future Workforce Sectors, Increasing Wages up to 650 Baht per Day

The Cabinet has approved raising skill standards in four sectors, increasing skill-based wages to between 550 and 650 baht per day to support future industries and enhance the country's competitiveness.


On 19 May 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Labor's proposal to set wage rates according to skill standards in four sectors, expanding on the existing 141 sectors already set by the Ministry. This follows Wage Committee Announcement No. 15 dated 29 January 2026 GMT+7, aiming to ensure fair wages for skilled workers, encourage skill development for recognition, increase income security, and enhance national competitiveness.

The Cabinet agreed to set wage rates according to skill standards for four sectors for employees who have passed the national skill standard tests in each profession and skill level as follows:

1. Flux-cored welder

- Skill standard wage Level 1: 550 baht per day

- Skill standard wage Level 2: 650 baht per day

2. MIG welder

- Skill standard wage Level 1: 550 baht per day

- Skill standard wage Level 2: 650 baht per day

3. Installer of off-grid solar cell systems (not connected to power grid)

- Skill standard wage Level 1: 560 baht per day

4. Industrial robot maintenance technician

- Skill standard wage Level 1: 630 baht per day

These wage rates will take effect 90 days after their publication in the Government Gazette.
