The Klattham Party supports borrowing the first 200 billion baht to help the public but opposes the second 200 billion baht for energy restructuring, stating it is not an urgent matter and should be funded through the normal budget. The party clarified it did not join the opposition in submitting a petition to the Constitutional Court because the required signatures had already been collected.
At 16:30 on 19 May 2026 at the Klattham Party headquarters, Mr. Atthakorn Sirilattayakorn, Member of Parliament for Chachoengsao and spokesperson for the Klattham Party, spoke about the party's stance on the 400 billion baht loan decree after the Constitutional Court accepted a petition from some opposition parties. He said that the Klattham Party has continuously consulted with opposition parties and affirmed there are no issues in working together.
Mr. Atthakorn stated that the Klattham Party believes borrowing funds to assist with the cost of living remains urgently necessary because people are still suffering from the impacts of war, rising oil prices, electricity costs, and higher living expenses. Therefore, budget allocation should be expedited to alleviate public hardship.
However, the Klattham Party disagrees with the approximately 200 billion baht allocated for the energy restructuring project, viewing it as a non-urgent matter that should not be funded through a loan decree but rather through the regular budgeting process. This is because it is a long-term project requiring time to transition energy systems, such as shifting to solar energy.
"The Klattham Party does not oppose everything. We support initiatives beneficial to the public, but on matters we find inappropriate, we must express our position and raise our voices to the government, so they listen and improve their work," Mr. Atthakorn said. Mr. Atthakorn added.
He further explained that the matter is currently under consideration by the Constitutional Court before returning to parliamentary review. He confirmed that the party has clarified with opposition parties after initial communication misunderstandings, and all parties now understand each other well and are ready to continue working together.
Additionally, Mr. Atthakorn addressed the recent train-bus collision, calling it an incident that should never have happened and reflecting deficiencies in the responsible agencies, all key units of the country. With genuine attention and prevention, such incidents can be avoided.
"If this issue comes before the parliament, the Klattham Party is ready to voice to the government that problems impacting lives, property, and the country’s reputation cannot be ignored," he said. Mr. Atthakorn concluded.
