Yotsanan Plans to Adjust Fraser Skill Model to Adapt to Technological and Economic Changes

Yotsanan plans to adjust the 'Fraser Skill' model to respond to changes in technology and economic conditions, confirms no problems, and prepares to present it to the Cabinet again. He revealed traveling to France with the Prime Minister to elevate Thai research and technology and to strengthen bilateral relations.,

At 12:50 p.m. on 19 May 2026 at the Government House, Yotsanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, said he discussed the 'Fraser Skill' (an online skill development learning platform) with the Prime Minister. This project is crucial and must be pursued by Thailand. It has already received Cabinet approval. However, after over two years of study by several committee members, it was found that the current diversity of technology, along with budget and economic considerations, requires the model to be adjusted appropriately before resubmission to the Cabinet.

Yotsanan stated there is no problem with this matter as it is an adaptation to the current context. The project will follow a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model involving private sector participation, as well as oversight by various government agencies to ensure suitability.

Additionally, Yotsanan spoke about accompanying the Prime Minister on a trip to France to explore technology. Recently, 20 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed with France concerning human capital development at multiple universities. France excels in the green energy transition, and also has Station F, a startup incubator converted from an old railway station, attracting numerous companies. This initiative will help strengthen Thai-French relations further.

Furthermore, there are initiatives in heritage science, such as projects related to Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. By applying science and technology, detailed research can be conducted to uncover historical narratives and utilize existing assets for in-depth study. This is an area for ongoing collaboration and development.
