Court Reverses Verdict, Sentences MP Toto to 3 Years in Prison Without Suspension in Section 112 Case

Toto Piyarat posted urgent news that the Court of Appeal Region 4 has reversed the lower court's verdict, sentencing him to 3 years in prison without suspension in the Section 112 case. The court has permitted temporary release on bail set at 300,000 baht.

On 20 May 2026, Mr. Piyarat Jangphat, a party-list MP from the People’s Party, posted a photo of himself standing in front of the Kalasin Provincial Court, stating: "Urgent! Today (20 May 26) at 09:30 at Kalasin Provincial Court, the Court of Appeal Region 4 reversed the lower court's verdict in the Section 112 case against Toto Piyarat, sentencing the defendant to 3 years in prison without suspension."

In this case, the Kalasin Provincial Court heard only the prosecution’s witnesses and cut off the defense’s witnesses despite the defendant’s objections. The court later acquitted him due to doubts about the prosecution’s evidence.

Currently, an application for bail and temporary release is being submitted to allow him to continue fighting the case at the Supreme Court level.

A reporter noted that if the court denies bail and remands Mr. Piyarat, as a party-list MP he will be disqualified from holding his parliamentary seat.

Most recently, at 12:00, Mr. Piyarat posted that the court granted temporary release on bail set at 300,000 baht, with the condition that he must not leave the country without court permission.
