Permanent Secretary of Finance Reveals Gradual Requests for Remaining 200 Billion Baht Budget Have Begun

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance is ready to accept requests for the remaining 24 billion baht from the first tranche of the loan decree, revealing that requests for the second tranche of 200 billion baht have already begun arriving.

At 10:25 a.m. on 20 May 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, spoke about reviewing the use of the remaining 24 billion baht from the first tranche of the 200 billion baht loan decree. He said relevant ministries must submit proposals, with each ministry reviewing whether their projects align with this loan decree. They can submit project requests if they wish to utilize the funds. Currently, requests for the second 200 billion baht tranche have already been received, and the screening committee will assess which tranche the projects better suit.

When asked about the Cabinet's resolution to assist vulnerable groups who might not have welfare cards or technology, Mr. Lawaron said the Ministry of Interior will address this by identifying those missed and determining possible support measures. When asked if many requests have been submitted, he said only one project was approved by the Cabinet on 19 May and acknowledged that the overall 400 billion baht budget must now be considered.
