The People's Reform Student Network (P.R.S.N.) submitted a letter to the opposition requesting the establishment of an independent investigative committee into the "Saksayam" case. Meanwhile, "Vayo" emphasized that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is responsible for submitting factual findings for the Constitutional Court's consideration. The petition is expected to reach the Parliament Speaker by early June.
20 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut List MP from the Prachachon Party and leader of the opposition in the House of Representatives. Mr. Satit Wongnongtoei List MP from the Democrat Party. Dr. Warong Dechgitvigrom List MP from the Thai Pakdee Party and Police General Sereepisuth Temeeyaves List MP from the Seri Ruam Thai Party received a letter from the People's Reform Student Network (P.R.S.N.) requesting them to gather signatures to submit to the Parliament Speaker to forward the matter to the Supreme Court for the formation of an independent investigative committee regarding Mr. Saksayam Chidchob former Minister of Transport.
Mr. Natthapong confirmed that they have no objection to using parliamentary powers to scrutinize independent organizations. The opposition has already drafted the petition, emphasizing that the opposition parties work with mutual respect. They agree on anything beneficial to the country but maintain certain stances, such as being cautious about the powers of independent organizations that might expand excessively.
Meanwhile, Dr. Vayo Assavarungroj List MP from the Prachachon Party added that the party is drafting this petition, including the previous one submitted to the 26th Parliament, for the new Parliament Speaker to further examine the matter. It is expected to take some time. They intend to submit it next week, but due to growing public interest, additional factual information has been included in the petition. They expect to submit it to the Parliament Speaker in the first week of June 2026.
"The role of the NACC (National Anti-Corruption Commission) is not to judge or decide cases—that is the court's responsibility. The NACC acts like an investigator or prosecutor, gathering evidence and submitting findings to the court. The facts presented to the Constitutional Court likely include material that the NACC should submit for the court's judgment."
Mr. Satit said that the Democrat Party has closely followed this issue and has worked with opposition parties. Regarding the NACC's dismissal of the petition against Mr. Saksayam, which differs from the Constitutional Court's ruling, the Democrat Party, Seri Ruam Thai Party, and Thai Pakdee Party have joined the Prachachon Party in signing and submitting this matter to the Parliament Speaker. Additionally, the Prachachon Party plans to submit a separate petition on other aspects of Mr. Saksayam's case.
Dr. Warong further revealed that although the Thai Pakdee Party has only one vote, they are ready to act for the nation's benefit and the people. They have a clear consensus to advance this issue to protect the country's interests and agree to push for the Supreme Court to establish an independent investigative committee.
Then Police General Sereepisuth stated that the Seri Ruam Thai Party's campaign slogan is "Cheaters face me." As the opposition, they must fully protect the public's interests and will not tolerate any illegal actions. Regarding P.R.S.N.'s issues, including Mr. Saksayam's case and Shin Corp shares, they must proceed according to court rulings. Therefore, they are ready to support and sign the petition.
