On 21 May 2026 GMT+7, Major Phatdarasmit Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced progress on a key education policy. The government, via the Ministry of Education, is set to elevate Thai children's learning towards the future by systematically introducing "E-Sports" into schools nationwide. This marks a significant step in preparing "digital human capital" for the new economy, offering a fresh perspective on Thai education that concretely links digital skills, creativity, and the future economy.
Initially, e-sports will be introduced into the TO BE NUMBER ONE clubs across schools nationwide, creating a creative space for youth to develop four core areas: technology skills, analytical thinking, teamwork, and self-management. Representatives will be selected to compete at school, national, and international levels. This initiative will later expand into a full-fledged learning curriculum. The government views e-sports not merely as entertainment but as a creative industry with tremendous economic value, capable of generating income and career opportunities for Thai youth.
The Deputy Spokesperson added that the government aims to shift Thai children's learning from memorization to thinking, analysis, and using technology to enhance their potential. He expressed confidence that all Thai children have potential; by providing the right platforms, opportunities, and tools, Thai youth are ready to compete on the global stage in every arena.
