Anudit Emphasizes Constitution Amendment Is Not a Power Game, Advocates for a Livable Constitution and Supports All Drafts Unlocking Peoples Livelihood Crisis

Anudit emphasized that amending the constitution is not a power game. He highlighted the goal of a “livable constitution” and affirmed that the Kla Tham Party is ready to support all drafts that remove obstacles for the people but must not threaten the democratic system with the monarchy as head of state.

On 21 May 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Commander Anudit Nakornthap, deputy leader of the Kla Tham Party, commented on various political parties submitting constitutional amendment drafts to parliament. He insisted this is not a political power play but an urgent necessity to change the country’s rules, enabling a people-elected government to govern effectively and preventing the supreme law from becoming a trap that hinders Thailand’s future.

Anudit pointed out that the current constitution has outdated mechanisms and ambiguous interpretations that block good policies amid an escalating economic crisis. Asked why constitutional amendments are urgent despite economic troubles, he answered that the constitution is the “foundation of the house.” If the foundation is distorted, even good economic policies or talented people will be blocked. Countries aiming to revive their economies and attract investment need clear, predictable rules connected to people’s lives through a constituent assembly to restore legitimacy and build international confidence.

The key goal is to create a “livable constitution” that unlocks livelihoods, breaks monopolistic capital, prevents nominee capital groups, and establishes a balanced, transparent oversight system. Digital technology will help reduce policy corruption. This oversight system must not become a political tool that hampers government operations.

Regarding the Kla Tham Party’s position, they affirm readiness to support all drafts that benefit and remove obstacles for the people but draw a clear line that the amendments must not harm the democratic system with the monarchy as head of state. They call on the government and all parties to act sincerely, as this constitutional amendment is a vital opportunity to eradicate structural problems, equip the government to combat the economic crisis, and enable the people to live with stability and dignity.
