Teng Criticizes Anutin for Involving Institutional Representatives in Public Policy Decisions, Warning of Risks

"Teng" criticizes "Anutin" for pulling the sky down, saying he should not involve representatives or institutions directly in public policy decisions, warning that if mistakes are made, the losses might outweigh the gains.

On 21 May 2026 at the Parliament, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke about the role of the Privy Council and the executive branch’s participation in the meeting with the Department of Disaster Prevention on 19 May. He said that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as head of the executive, should not directly involve representatives or institutions in public policy decisions. Every decision requires accountability; if any decision goes wrong, it could affect the monarchy. He and the Prachachon Party are concerned about this. He added that a Prime Minister should not "hang on or pull the sky down" but rather use all channels of his power to "push the sky higher."

He advised avoiding meetings of this type.

When asked if the Prachachon Party would use mechanisms to improve or change this if it became the government, Natthapong said that if he or a party representative became Prime Minister, they would assign roles appropriately and avoid meetings where representatives or the monarchy directly participate in decision-making. When asked if they would cancel such meetings altogether, he reiterated the advice against "hanging on or pulling the sky down," emphasizing that the Prime Minister’s duty is to "push the sky higher."

He expressed confidence in speaking the truth.

When asked about concerns over legal issues, Natthapong said this would likely not affect legal matters. He referred to the case of 44 MPs related to amending Section 112, noting that expressing opinions about the principles of our governance system is part of a representative’s duty. If they see something wrong, they must raise their voices, even if it involves legal risks. Remaining silent to avoid risk would disappoint the public regarding their duties.
