Prime Minister Assigns Governors and Provincial Police Chiefs to Combat All Crime Types, Confirms KPI Monitoring with September Review

The Prime Minister has assigned government strategies and plans to governors and provincial police chiefs to combat all types of crime, believing no offender will evade justice if full integration is achieved. He acknowledged KPI measurements exist, with performance results to be revealed by September.

21 May 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said in an interview after chairing a policy briefing at a workshop on advancing security operations under government policy that this involved delivering the administration’s strategy and action plans to provincial governors and provincial police commanders to coordinate efforts. The focus is on suppressing and preventing all types of crime, especially drugs, illegal activities, scammers, call centers, nominee ownership, illegal land possession, and bullying of citizens by thugs. This will involve a comprehensive, fully integrated collaborative approach.

Regarding setting targets to enable effective cooperation between the two agencies, the Prime Minister said there is no need to set specific goals, as these are already the responsibilities of each agency. Therefore, if the governors and provincial police commanders fully cooperate to alleviate suffering, promote well-being, and uphold peace, he believes no illegal acts will escape their authority.

. When asked about his earlier statement during the policy briefing that “If it rains lightly in June, by September we will know the results,” and whether this implied KPI measurements, the Prime Minister confirmed that performance evaluation is indeed part of the process. The administration of each province and region will be assessed based on the well-being, security, and quality of life of the people, which fall under the responsibilities of the governors and provincial police commanders.
