Anutin retorts that the People’s Party lacks maturity by questioning the participation of Privy Councilors in the disaster prevention meeting, stressing it was not a directive meeting but a presentation of work. He asserts that if they can't even understand this, he wonders how they will manage the country.
At 11:35 a.m. on 21 May 2026 at the Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed concerns raised by the People’s Party about nine Privy Councilors attending the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting. He said this has been standard practice for 10 years and is normal. It is not a meeting for directives but a presentation of operational results. He believes each Privy Councilor is responsible for supporting people in their respective regions and many have held senior government administrative roles before. Their participation is normal and positive, allowing presentation and hearing of opinions from highly experienced individuals.
When asked about Natthapong’s comment saying, “Don’t cling on and pull the sky down,” the Prime Minister replied, “I never said that. Maybe others have, but not me. This never happened. Don’t pay attention to rhetoric or intentions. The public understands why this is done. All the criticisms are wrong. This is not a meeting for directives, not an interference in any sector’s work.”
“If they don’t even understand this, how can they manage the country? Yet they criticize — this shows their lack of wisdom and maturity,” Anutin said.
