Srisuwan Submits Complaint to Election Commission to Investigate Dissolution of Prachachon Party over Post Criticizing Privy Councils Role in Drought Management

A political activist took the stage urging the Election Commission (EC) to investigate the Prachachon Party for undermining and damaging national institutions through a post criticizing the government and the Privy Council's joint drought management meeting.

On 21 May 2026 at the Election Commission office, Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Love the Nation organization, submitted a complaint to the EC and the political party registrar, requesting an investigation and disciplinary action against the Prachachon Party for posting on their Facebook page content accusing the government and Privy Council of improper conduct that risks violating the democratic regime under the monarchy.

Mr. Srisuwan views this expression as unconstitutional and possibly corrosive to key national institutions. He urged that if the EC finds sufficient grounds for wrongdoing, it should refer the case to the Constitutional Court to consider dissolving the Prachachon Party under Section 92 of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Mr. Srisuwan explained that Article 6 clearly states: “The King shall reign in a position revered and cannot be violated. No one may accuse or sue the King in any manner.” Article 10, paragraph two, states: “The Privy Council shall provide counsel to the King on all royal duties as consulted by the King and perform other duties as prescribed by the Constitution.” Therefore, the Privy Council's participation in a meeting with the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (NDPMC) to prepare for the 2026 drought is part of their routine advisory and coordination role with the government, consistently practiced since 2017. This is neither unusual nor contrary to governance principles as claimed by the Prachachon Party.

The leader of the Love the Nation organization added that the Prachachon Party's deliberate public posting in this manner may be seen as hostile to the democratic regime under the monarchy. Such behavior could be considered disruptive or threatening to public order or morality, which is strictly prohibited under Section 45 together with Sections 92 (2), (3), and (4) of the Organic Act on Political Parties 2017, as well as Article 101 (7) of the 2017 Constitution. Therefore, he submitted evidence to the EC to carry out a straightforward investigation and forward the case to the Constitutional Court for a ruling to dissolve the Prachachon Party.
