
Julapan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, announced that the new Social Security board election will be held on 27 September 2026, confirming the use of the existing rules without changes. The registration period to exercise voting rights is extended from 1 June to 15 July, with additional polling units established at the district level.
On 22 May 2026, Julapan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, revealed that the meeting of the Election Committee for employer and insured representatives of the Social Security Office has finalized the election date for representatives to serve on the Social Security Board. The election day is set for Sunday, 27 September 2026, and the election will follow the same rules and format as the previous one.
Julapan emphasized that setting this election date complies with the Ministry of Labor’s regulations on the criteria and procedures for electing employer and insured representatives to the Social Security Board, B.E. 2564 (2021). To maximize public participation, the committee extended the registration period for voting rights to 45 days and established polling units at the district level, replacing the previous system that only had polling at the provincial level.
Insured persons and employers can register to exercise their voting rights or to run in the election according to the following details.
1. Registration to exercise voting rights: To ensure no loss of the right to elect representatives who will oversee benefits and funds, employers and insured persons under Sections 33, 39, and 40 can register to vote from 1 June to 15 July 2026 through three main channels:
1.1 The website www.sso.go.th (available 24 hours).
For employers and insured persons.
1.2 The SSO Plus application (available 24 hours).
For insured persons only.
1.3 Social Security Office provincial branches or local offices.
For employers and insured persons, with operating hours as follows:
- 1 to 30 June 2026, from 08:30 to 16:30 (excluding public holidays).
- 1 to 15 July 2026, from 08:30 to 16:30 (including public holidays).
The list of eligible voters will be announced on 10 August 2026 via the website sso.go.th, the SSO Plus app, and at Social Security offices.
2. Election candidacy: Those interested in becoming representatives to help drive the Social Security system can apply from 1 to 15 July 2026 at the Social Security offices in Bangkok or provincial offices, from 08:30 to 16:30 (including public holidays). The list of candidates and their identification numbers will be announced on 19 August 2026.
