Government House Seals Leaks to Prepare for Rainy Season, Repairs Thai Khu Fah and Santi Maitri Buildings During PMs Trip to France

The Government House prepares for the monsoon by taking advantage of the Prime Minister's absence to mobilize technicians to repair the Thai Khu Fah and Santi Maitri buildings, focusing on sealing silicone to prevent water leakage.

On 22 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters at the Government House observed physical and infrastructure activity at the center of state power. Since early morning, the atmosphere was busy with maintenance work as officials and laborers brought construction equipment and steel scaffolding to install around the exterior walls of the Thai Khu Fah building, the main workplace of the country's leader.

The mobilization of technicians for this refurbishment aims to fix and repair vulnerable points in the building's structure. Workers climbed scaffolding to scrape and reseal silicone around all window frames of the Thai Khu Fah building. This followed Thailand's official entry into the rainy season and recent heavy storms causing rainwater to leak through window edges, affecting the interior surfaces. The technicians also attended to finishing touches, repainting window edges for durability and aesthetic improvement.

Besides the Thai Khu Fah building, the repair team also dispatched personnel to inspect and seal leaks and cracks on the roof and exterior walls of the Santi Maitri (outer) building. This action followed reports from building officials who noted similar rainwater intrusion problems during the monsoon season.

Additional reports from the Government House revealed that this maintenance and repair effort was timed to coincide with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's official visit to the French Republic. However, this landscape upgrade is not the first; earlier in April, officials had used water trucks and specialized chemicals to clean algae, dust, and grime from the exterior walls of the Thai Khu Fah building. This was done to restore the neo-Gothic style building's elegance, befitting its status as Thailand's foremost government venue on the global stage.
