
The government is pleased that the Thai food documentary "Tasteful Thailand" won the Best Documentary award from the United States, reflecting the power of Soft Power. It promotes Thai cuisine and culture onto the global stage.
On 23 May 2026, Ms. Ploytale Lakshamisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that the government praised the successful cooperation between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Tencent, a technology and holding company from China. They jointly aimed to convey the story of Thai food with depth beyond just deliciousness, beautifully reflecting the identity, culture, and charm of the people in each region.
Ms. Ploytale said it is a source of pride for Thailand and Thai people that the Thai food documentary "Tasteful Thailand," which reflects Thai Soft Power through the charm of food, culture, and Thai way of life to viewers worldwide on the WeTV platform, was able to win the “Telly Awards” from the United States in the Best Documentary category. The Telly Awards is a renowned international television and video award established in 1979, receiving over 13,000 entries annually from six continents.
