The Speaker of Parliament opened the BAAC Union seminar, emphasizing that the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is a fundamental pillar supporting the grassroots economy. He urged working with ideology, conscience, and unity to safeguard the nation's interests and benefits.
On 23 May 2026, Mr. Sophon Sarum, Speaker of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, presided over the opening ceremony of the annual training seminar for the State Enterprise Labor Union Committee of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC Union) for 2026. The event, themed "Building a Good Labor Relations System and Strategic Project Management," was held at the Bansuan Fruit Gardens conference room in Lam Plai Mat District, Buriram Province.
Mr. Sophon stated in his opening remarks the important role of the organization, noting that BAAC is a state financial institution serving as a key force and mechanism in supporting farmers and the grassroots economy of Thailand. For the organization to successfully drive its major mission and achieve sustainable growth, it must be founded on a strong internal labor relations system and managed with good governance principles.
The Speaker also praised the seminar as a highly beneficial activity that enhances accurate understanding of labor laws and positive negotiation skills. These elements help maintain a balanced good relationship between employees and employers and serve as vital mechanisms to protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members, while supporting the efficient operation of the state enterprise.
He added that applying strategic project management will be a crucial tool enabling the BAAC Union to be flexible and better respond to rapid changes in laws and the volatile economic environment today. He expressed confidence that the cooperation and teamwork fostered by this seminar would become a driving force for balanced management, increasing members’ workplace happiness and ultimately bringing the greatest benefits to BAAC.
“If everything is done with ideology and conscience, progress is possible, and unity is essential to solve the nation’s problems. Protecting benefits for members and the country is the key point here,” Mr. Sophon emphasized.
