Thanakorn Urges Piyabutr to Stop Stirring Confusion over Privy Council, Accuses Him of Political Motives

Thanakorn criticized Piyabutr for inciting society to confuse the neutrality of the Privy Council. He said Piyabutr deliberately overlooked facts, allowed bias to cloud his judgment, and destroyed the nation's trust for political gain, adding a jab not to act narrow-minded.

24 May 2026 GMT+7 Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana Member of Parliament (party-list) for Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, postedon his personal Facebookregarding the case where Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, Secretary-General of the Progressive Movement, proposed the abolition of the Privy Council, claiming that many people are beginning to question the Privy Council's neutrality, which might affect the monarchy. Thanakorn said that the 'many people' Piyabutr refers to are likely his own political supporters, but definitely not the majority of the country.

Thanakorn further stated that Piyabutr himself well knows the Privy Council has no power to govern the country, cannot approve budgets or make appointments. Yet Piyabutr deliberately ignores these facts and instead creates political fears to agitate his supporters, despite the Privy Council having attended government meetings across many administrations. Piyabutr chooses not to tell the truth.

"Piyabutr should not selectively view only the angle that benefits himself, especially when there is no evidence that the Privy Council directs the government, as he tries to portray. He should also talk about the benefits to the public from this drought meeting. Don’t let bias blind your eyes. Don’t be narrow-minded. Learn to see others in a positive light."

Currently, the upcoming drought may impact many citizens in various areas. The government is trying its best to implement measures to prevent and resolve the problem. Yet today, we have to waste time explaining baseless political accusations from a few individuals. Thailand has suffered enough. Don’t destroy the nation’s trust just to gain political advantage for a small group. It’s not worth it.
