The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has instructed the governors of 25 provinces in the central and eastern regions to promote the establishment of "Royal Rainmaking Volunteers" to coordinate support for royal rainmaking operations to help alleviate public hardship during the dry season, and to mitigate drought impacts.
24 May 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Arsith Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, disclosed progress on advancing royal initiative projects by following the royal determination to “Preserve, Maintain, and Develop” as a guiding principle for provincial implementation. This is aimed at easing public hardship amid rapidly changing weather conditions, especially droughts affecting the central provinces. Recently, the Ministry of Interior joined a meeting with the Subcommittee for Monitoring and Driving Royal Initiative Projects in the Central Region on 22 April 2026. The ministry received requests to promote establishing Royal Rainmaking Volunteers in each province and to coordinate, expedite, and integrate project implementation with local agencies.
The Permanent Secretary stated that to maximize the benefits of royal initiative projects in the central region for citizens, easing hardships and reducing risks to life and property, especially from drought conditions, he has ordered governors of 25 central and eastern provinces to promote the establishment of “Royal Rainmaking Volunteers” in each province. These volunteers will coordinate with the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department to request royal rainmaking support to increase water levels in reservoirs and agricultural areas, helping to alleviate drought hardships during the dry season.
