On 24 May 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong visited Narathiwat Province to attend a meeting with investigators and the case resolution team regarding the assassination attempt on Mr. Kamonsak Leewamo, Member of Parliament for Narathiwat's 5th district from the Prachachart Party. He revealed that, following continuous discussions and progress tracking of the case, officials now have clear and confirmed evidence. The investigation is expected to lead directly to the "mastermind" behind this brutal incident. Pol. Col. Tawee emphasized that the public should maintain hope and confidence in the justice process, which will ensure the perpetrators are punished under the law.
Later, Pol. Col. Tawee presided over the closing ceremony of the 7th Yamu Renakup 11-a-side football tournament final, featuring a match between the YLSS Zidan Tour x Sarakit Electrical Appliances x Malay Knights team and the LEE MAN U x HR DESIGN team.
The event atmosphere was lively, with MP Kamonsak Leewamo of Narathiwat's 5th district, MP Lutfi Hayiet of Narathiwat's 1st district, along with military officers, police, local administrative officials, community leaders, and many local residents attending to watch the match and warmly welcome the participants.
On this occasion, Pol. Col. Tawee spoke with the public and athletes, highlighting the sports potential among youth in the southern border provinces. He cited local football club successes as an inspiration, stating:
“Although this field may look simple and typical of a local village, leading some to question why there isn't a more standard stadium here, watching the competition reveals that the players’ skills and talent are exceptionally impressive. It is almost unbelievable that this is a local-level competition, presenting a rare and remarkable scene.

Soon, the Narathiwat FC team will play a semifinal match against Satun as they vie for promotion, while Pattani FC recently achieved success by advancing to Thai League 1 (T1), celebrated with a grand city-wide victory parade. The two-hour-long procession was comparable to championship celebrations of world-class clubs like Liverpool. These events confirm that sports bring joy and viable career opportunities.”
