
Suriya Juangroongruangkit appeared at the ordination ceremony of Rachen Sinparaya, former Director-General of the Royal Rainmaking Department, at Wat Pa Ban Tat in Udon Thani Province, following an incident the previous night in which he lost consciousness and required CPR.
On 25 May 2026, from the case of Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, who lost consciousness and was urgently taken to Bangkok Udon Thani Hospital on the night of 24 May 2026. Medical staff performed CPR until vital signs returned and he was able to respond normally thereafter.
Most recently, today Suriya was seen at Wat Kasorn Silakhun, also known as Wat Pa Ban Tat, Ban Tat Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, attending the ordination ceremony of Rachen Sinparaya, former Director-General of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department. The ordination is scheduled for one month, from 25 May to 23 June 2026, coinciding with his official retirement date. Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Watcharapol Khaokham, current and former members of parliament from the area, civil servants and former officials who had worked with the former director-general, among many others attending the event.
Initially, the group gathered and conversed at the main pavilion in front of the temple entrance. Afterwards, they paid respects to Phra Rajvachiradhammajarn V., or Luang Por Sutham Sudhammo, the abbot of Wat Pa Ban Tat. When everyone was present, Rachen, dressed in ordination robes, led the ordination procession into the temple's sermon hall. Deputy Prime Minister Songsak carried the alms bowl, Suriya carried the monk's robes, followed by relatives and attendees holding the ordination items in procession into the temple. The atmosphere was peaceful, with all participants smiling happily and sharing in the merit of the occasion.
They then proceeded to conduct the ordination ceremony, presided over by Phra Rajsankoson (Wongthai Supawanso), the provincial ecclesiastical head of Udon Thani (Dhammayut sect). After Rachen Sinparaya recited the ordination vows and completed the formalities, he entered a rear room to don the saffron robes beneath the umbrella of the robes, receiving the monastic name “Atthakorno,” meaning “One who provides benefits.”
