Lieutenant Colonel Ritcha Suksuwanonn, Deputy Army spokesperson, revealed that following the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's announcement expanding Ebola risk zones to 10 countries, including the Republic of South Sudan, where the Thai-South Sudanese special engineering company operates, the Army Commander has urgently directed the General Staff Department, in cooperation with medical units and related agencies, to rapidly assess the needs for protective equipment and medical supplies and expedite their delivery to personnel in the high-risk areas.

Meanwhile, Colonel Nuchrawee Jamjarat, Deputy Army spokesperson, reported progress on compensation for personnel affected by service along the Thai-Cambodian border during the “Century Operation.” A total of 848 personnel were impacted (27 deceased, 10 disabled, and 811 seriously or generally injured). Disbursement to families is expected by June 2026.

Furthermore, the Army has proceeded to recruit heirs of deceased personnel to provide family security. Regarding the “Yutthabodin Operation” (July 2025), 15 qualifying deceased personnel had heirs recruited: 13 have been enlisted, one delayed due to ongoing studies. For the “Century Operation” (December 2025), 26 deceased personnel qualified; 10 heirs approved (7 orders issued, 3 in process), 11 awaiting approval due to ongoing studies, and 5 have waived rights in favor of other agencies. The Army affirms it will fully and promptly support the families of fallen soldiers to boost morale among troops.
