Clarification on the 400 Billion Baht Loan Royal Decree Sent to Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn for Final Review

The Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) revealed that the draft clarification of the 400 billion baht loan Royal Decree has been sent to Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt for final review. He pointed out that the Thai Help Thai Plus project is expected to boost GDP by 0.4% amid rising inflation.


At 09:05 on 26 May at the Government House, Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the NESDC, spoke about preparing the clarification to submit to the Constitutional Court regarding whether the 400 billion baht loan Royal Decree violates the constitution. He said inquiries should be directed to Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt. Regarding the NESDC's part, last week they worked jointly with the Ministry of Finance to prepare the clarification before submission. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn is the final reviewer. Mr. Danucha did not know the exact number of pages but confirmed coordination with the Ministry of Finance and related agencies, with the Ministry of Finance as the lead agency. The full clarification documents were sent to Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn last week.


When asked about the number of loan proposal projects submitted to the screening committee, of which he is a member, Mr. Danucha said the review is ongoing. For details, he suggested asking the Ministry of Finance about any scheduled agendas. Currently, they are checking who has submitted proposals.


Mr. Danucha also commented on how much the Thai Help Thai Plus project could stimulate the economy, saying that living costs and inflation are expected to rise. Therefore, this project aims to reduce the cost of living. The economic support effect is another matter that will help boost the economy. Based on calculations, it is expected to increase GDP by 0.4% due to the loan funds fromthe loan Royal Decreeamounting to approximately 200 billion baht.
