A look into the profile of “Mink” Narunmon Huangsap, niece of “Jirayu Huangsap,” who is contesting the Khlong Sam Wa council seat under the group “Pheu Thai Life in Balance.”
On 26 May 2026, after Ms. Theerarat Samseiwani, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party and Chairwoman for Bangkok, formally announced the "Pheu Thai Life in Balance" group’s candidates for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council election yesterday (25 May), among the nominees was Ms. Narunmon Huangsap, or “Mink,” the incumbent council member for Khlong Sam Wa district.
Regarding her background, “Mink” Narunmon Huangsap was born on 21 November 1988 and is 38 years old.
She is the daughter of Ms. Niyaree Huangsap, a former civil servant teacher at Wat Khu Bon School in Khlong Sam Wa district. Previously, Ms. Narunmon worked as a host for the O Shopping program for about seven years before embarking on her political career.
Narunmon holds a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (Drama) from Thammasat University.
She is the niece of Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, former government spokesperson at the Prime Minister’s Office and two-term Bangkok MP for Khlong Sam Wa.
Her political career began in 2019 as secretary to the Commission on Court Affairs, Independent Organizations, Prosecutor Organizations, State Enterprises, Public Organizations, and Funds, chaired by Mr. Jirayu.
Then, on 6 June 2022, Ms. Narunmon entered local politics and was elected as Khlong Sam Wa council member in her first term under the Pheu Thai Party. She was also appointed as spokesperson for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council.
Historically, Khlong Sam Wa district was a stronghold of the Democrat Party when it was still a subdistrict under Minburi district. Mr. Wichan Meenchainan served as council member from 1994 to 1998. After Khlong Sam Wa separated from Minburi in 1997, Mr. Sutin Chusanguan from the Democrat Party became the first council member for Khlong Sam Wa from 1998 to 2002. Subsequently, Kamnan Wirat Inchuay from the Democrat Party held the council seat for three consecutive terms from 2002 to 2014, until ultimately losing to Ms. Narunmon of the Pheu Thai Party in the 2022 council elections.
Ms. Narunmon is considered a notable candidate because her uncle, Jirayu Huangsap, served two terms as MP in the area. Although he was later defeated by a candidate from the People's Party in the parliamentary elections, Ms. Narunmon from the Huangsap family succeeded in winning the local council seat in 2022 and has maintained her presence in the area. She has now clearly announced her intention to contest the council seat again under the “Pheu Thai Life in Balance” group.
