26 May 2026 GMT+7 Police Lieutenant General Ruthapol Naowarat, Minister of Justice, gave an interview at the Government House regarding the case if former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra were to request a royal pardon and removal of the EM bracelet, saying there are three criteria: illness, occupation, and a third issue where it should not happen—namely, if the person's residence lacks electricity or internet. For the first and second criteria, he does not meet the conditions and thus these are unlikely to be grounds for removing the EM bracelet, since he does not fulfill any of the three cases. In the past two weeks, there has been one case where the EM bracelet was removed, but it was related to occupation.
