His Majesty the King Appoints Sujin Chayachumsak as New Ombudsman

His Majesty the King has graciously issued a royal decree appointing Sujin Chayachumsak as the Ombudsman, effective immediately.


On 26 May 2026, the Royal Gazette website published the announcement.The royal decree announced the appointment of the Ombudsman.It stated that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously issued a royal decree declaring that

Whereas a royal decree appointed Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit as Ombudsman on 18 November 2018, and later as Chairman of the Ombudsman on 25 May 2021, he has since vacated the position upon reaching the age of 70, leaving the post vacant.

The Senate has now given its approval. Mr. Sujin Chayachumsak who possesses the qualifications and has no disqualifications, is appointed to serve as Ombudsman under Section 8(2) of the Organic Act on the Ombudsman, B.E. 2560 (2017).

By virtue of Section 228 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, in conjunction with Sections 8 and 13 of the Organic Act on the Ombudsman, B.E. 2560, His Majesty has graciously appointed Mr. Sujin Chayachumsak as Ombudsman.

This appointment is effective immediately.

Announced on 23 May 2026, the 11th year of the current reign.
The royal decree was received by Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate.
