Phonphum, former Bangkok MP, has resigned from the Pheu Thai Party to fully support the "Working Group" in the Bangkok Council election. At the same time, former Pheu Thai councilors who joined the Working Group have also resigned from the party to maintain independence in their work.
At 07:30 on 27 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Mr. Phonphum Wipatikumphat, former Bangkok MP from the Pheu Thai Party, posted on Facebook his resignation from the party to fully help the Working Group campaign for the Bangkok Council election. He wrote: "Today, I have decided to resign from the Pheu Thai Party membership with respect, understanding, and good wishes. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve the people with the party's support, both as a member of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, a Member of Parliament, and in the executive branch. I would like to thank the Pheu Thai Party, all senior members, colleagues, and the public for their support and companionship. Every moment is a valuable experience that I will always remember with respect and fondness. From now on, I will fully support the work of the 'Working Group.' The Working Group is a coalition of people dedicated to serving the public and ready to collaborate with all parties to help solve problems and improve Bangkok. I believe that working for the people of Bangkok requires experience, local understanding, and cooperation from many sides to achieve real solutions. From today, I will continue to go into communities, listen to problems, and perform my duties as a 'worker' with full effort as before. Thank you all for your encouragement."
Reporters also noted that all 10 former Pheu Thai Bangkok Council members who joined the Working Group have also resigned from the party to ensure freedom in their work.
