The government is pleased as Team Thailand’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival was successful, generating over one billion baht in revenue for the country. The Thai film industry attracted attention from buyers and investors, effectively meeting market demands.

On 27 May 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Saengchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed the success of Team Thailand at the Marché du Film–Cannes Film Festival 2026 held from 12 to 20 May 2026 in Cannes, France. This year’s participation included 296 business meetings, reflecting the potential of Thailand’s film and content industry, which attracted buyers, investors, and business partners worldwide. The total value of business negotiations exceeded 1.082 billion baht, including immediate sales of 27.89 million baht, projected sales within one year of 202.06 million baht, and projected sales within two to five years amounting to 852.23 million baht. Ms. Ploytale stated that the Marché du Film is one of the world’s most important markets for film licensing, co-production, and investment in the film industry. In 2026, over 16,000 people from more than 140 countries participated, with the Cannes Film Festival drawing over 40,000 attendees. The event featured more than 1,700 buyers, over 600 exhibiting companies, screenings of more than 1,500 films and projects, and over 250 industry activities, including more than 100 seminars. This demonstrates the event’s role as a key global hub for the film industry in terms of trade, investment, and international business networking.

“The government commends Team Thailand’s success at this event, which generated over 1.082 billion baht in business negotiations. This reflects the capability of Thai entrepreneurs in the film, series, animation, and related service sectors to meet global market demands in quality, creativity, and production standards.
