Government Confirms 30 Social Train Services Operating Normally

The government confirms that 30 social train services continue to operate normally and have not been suspended as reported on social media. The public is asked to refrain from sharing or forwarding such information to prevent confusion and misunderstanding.

On 27 May 2026, Ms. Ploytale Lakshamisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that internal documents from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have been circulated on social media. These documents indicate plans to suspend 30 social train services and reduce the distance for 16 services starting from 1 June 2026, causing significant alarm and concern among the public, students, and those reliant on rail transport.

"The State Railway of Thailand has clarified that as of 1 June 2026, there will be no cancellations or reductions of any social train services. The public can continue to travel according to the usual schedule on all routes. The circulated memorandum is merely an internal document seeking principle approval within the administrative line, and it has not been authorized for public release," she said. Ms. Ploytale emphasized this point.

Ms. Ploytale added that the government, through the State Railway of Thailand and the Ministry of Transport, fully understands that social train services are a vital travel artery for the public. Any future changes will be carefully considered. SRT assures there will be no sudden cancellations or actions taken without alternative public transport systems in place to prevent public hardship. All steps will undergo thorough review and public feedback will be sought. The government requests the public’s cooperation in refraining from sharing or forwarding the documents to prevent further confusion. Accurate train schedules and official announcements can be checked at the State Railway of Thailand’s website www.railway.co.th, the passenger train tracking system ttsview.railway.co.th, the SRT PR team’s Facebook page, or by contacting the Customer Service Center at 1690, available 24 hours.
