A lawyer revealed that the case involving Ice Rakchanok is nearly complete. The police are preparing to send a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament to summon her to acknowledge defamation charges that have affected the reputation and honor of Suchart Chomklin.
On 28 May 2026, Mr. Nattawut Wongniam, lawyer for Suchart Chomklin, accompanied by witnesses, met with investigators at Thonglor Police Station regarding a previously filed defamation complaint against Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, known as Ice Rakchanok, for posting defamatory content on social media.
Mr. Nattawut disclosed that today investigators called a witness for additional testimony. The witness is an eyewitness related to the defamatory social media posts. It is expected that after completing the testimony, investigators will send a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament to request Ms. Rakchanok’s appearance to proceed with the case, as the Parliament is in session. This process may take about a month before she can be summoned for questioning.
Previously, the legal team submitted relevant documents and evidence to the police. The witness is an eyewitness but details cannot be disclosed as they are part of the investigation file. At this stage, the complainant considers the process nearly complete.
Mr. Nattawut affirmed that filing this complaint is not a gag order or an attempt to suppress freedom of expression, as there is no personal relationship between the parties. It is an exercise of legal rights, based on the view that Ms. Rakchanok’s posts were insulting. Mr. Suchart had passed qualification checks for ministerial appointment and has no prior legal cases, so the accusations damage his reputation and honor.
He also stated that political criticism is permissible but must be honest and serve the public interest. Using insulting language is not part of opposition duties to scrutinize government work but is a personal matter that causes harm.
Currently, the legal team has filed three defamation complaints against Ms. Rakchanok: two at Bang Phlat Police Station and one at Thonglor Police Station, all involving defamation charges.
