Anucha Unconcerned About Competing with Former Governor Chadchart, Happy to Draw Number 5

Anucha expressed happiness at drawing number 5, which corresponds to his five main campaign policies, making it easier to campaign. He said he is not worried about competing with former governor Chadchart and affirmed he will not attack or fault anyone before leading 50 Democrat council candidates to pay respects at the City Pillar Shrine.

On 28 May 2026, Anucha Boopachaisri, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok governor, said after drawing candidate number 5 that he felt very lucky because this number would make campaigning easier. He can wave and greet citizens with his hand signaling “Hello number 5, please vote for Anucha,” making the campaign simple. It was unusual that he left home very early at 5 a.m., prepared the 50,000 baht registration fee in 500-baht notes, and everything was set. He said he developed five main policies: making Bangkok’s transportation convenient, ensuring a clean city, providing good quality of life, good income, and transparency. These five issues will be the core of his campaign because Bangkok residents want not just representatives who solve immediate problems but opportunities and hope. The Democrat Party is ready to work as a team with city executives and 50 council candidates across districts, planning to visit neighborhoods from early morning to late evening to listen to local issues in inner, middle, and outer zones.

When asked if he felt pressured competing for the Bangkok governor seat, especially against the former governor, Anucha said he was not worried. He said his candidacy is not to criticize or attack anyone but to offer constructive choices to the public. He emphasized that although the party’s representatives have not always been elected in the past, they have continuously worked to serve Bangkok residents seamlessly.

The ballot for this election consists of two cards: a green card for governor, on which he received number 5, and separate council candidate numbers that vary by district. Therefore, the team and all candidates must quickly and carefully engage with voters to avoid confusion during voting. He asked for the trust of Bangkok residents to give the Democrat Party another chance to manage the city.

Afterward, Anucha led the Democrat Party council candidates on an air-conditioned bus to pay respects at the City Pillar Shrine for good fortune. Then they dispatched campaign vehicles for all 50 council candidates to promote their candidate numbers across all districts throughout Bangkok.
