“Anutin” Hosts Dinner for Vietnamese President, Reinforcing Friendship Before Seeing Off at Airport

The Prime Minister hosted a dinner for the Vietnamese President and his delegation, reaffirming their strong friendship and joint efforts to build a prosperous and bright future for the peoples of both countries, and accompanied them to the airport.

On 28 May 2026 at 18:30, at the Outer Santi Maitri Building, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and his wife. The event was warm and friendly, reflecting the close friendship between Thai and Vietnamese leaders, featuring cultural and musical performances amid an atmosphere of strong bilateral ties.

Following this, the Prime Minister invited distinguished guests to join a toast celebrating the friendship between Thailand and Vietnam. He spoke of the historical bonds between the two countries, noting that Thailand was once a place of residence for President Ho Chi Minh, and currently hosts three Ho Chi Minh memorials in the provinces of Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, and Phichit, highlighting the strong ties between their peoples.

The Prime Minister also said that "food," "culture," and "tourism" serve as important bridges connecting the peoples of both countries. He expressed a wish to invite the guests to try simple Thai food if time permitted and to sample Vietnamese cuisine as well, which is very popular in Thailand. Meanwhile, Thai dramas and series are well-loved in Vietnam, helping to attract increasing numbers of Vietnamese tourists to Thailand.

At the conclusion, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that the strong and enduring relationship between the two countries over the past 50 years would continue indefinitely.

The Vietnamese President congratulated Thailand on its continuous economic development and significant role in the ASEAN region, both economically and in tourism, reflecting the vision of the Thai government and the dedication of the Thai people.

This visit to Thailand, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam and choosing Thailand as the first country to visit, underscores the importance Vietnam places on their close relationship. He also thanked the Thai government for its commitment to preserving important sites related to President Ho Chi Minh and for caring for Vietnamese temples and communities in Thailand.

Both countries recognize the importance of strengthening cooperation bilaterally, within ASEAN, and on the global stage. Thailand and Vietnam share close cultural ties, lifestyles, and people-to-people exchanges, evident in the popularity of Thai food in Vietnam and Vietnamese food in Thailand, as well as growing tourism and expanding communities on both sides.

Vietnam is committed to standing alongside Thailand in the future, based on friendship, trust, and the shared vision of both nations’ leaders, to jointly build security, prosperity, and a bright future for the peoples of both countries and the region.

After the dinner, the Prime Minister and his wife accompanied the Vietnamese President and his wife to Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang, Bangkok, to see them off.
