Chaiwat and Anchisa campaigned in the Bon Kai community, pointing out that garbage problems have been neglected despite the area’s prime central location. They emphasized moving forward to build a 'city that cares for people,' where the governor and councilors must work as a team to solve Bangkok’s issues.
On 28 May 2026, Mr. Chaiwat Sathawarawijit, candidate number 10 for Bangkok governor from the People’s Party, along with Ms. Anchisa Rojanayukthanon, candidate for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) from Pathumwan district representing the People’s Party, visited the Bon Kai housing community to listen to residents’ concerns.
Mr. Chaiwat said that after the candidate number draw earlier that morning, he and the People’s Party’s management team, along with their BMC candidates, jointly presented district-specific policies they consider key agendas. Their goal is to promote Bangkok as a city that genuinely cares for its people.
Ms. Anchisa stated that their visit to Bon Kai community today was not only to promote the upcoming governor and councilor elections scheduled for 28 June but also to present important agendas for Pathumwan district she aims to push forward, starting with waste management.
Pathumwan is Bangkok’s economic center, hosting jobs, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and major tourist attractions. Daily, many people circulate through the area, resulting in a huge volume of garbage. Pathumwan ranks as the district producing the most waste in Bangkok. When waste collection systems fall behind, garbage accumulates, causing bad odors and harming public health and the area’s image.
The Bon Kai community starkly reflects inequality despite its prime downtown location connected to key business districts. The community has been neglected by authorities and faces high inequality. While government and private sectors push housing projects like condominiums, most community residents have low incomes, live in crowded homes, and cannot access new housing.
This area has not received adequate attention from Bangkok authorities, especially regarding waste management systems that do not support local residents. There are insufficient waste disposal points for the volume generated by residents and nearby markets, leading to foul odors in many spots that affect residents’ quality of life.
Ms. Anchisa added that another key agenda is sewer maintenance because many communities in Pathumwan have not had their sewers cleaned thoroughly, especially in Bon Kai, where some areas have not been cleaned for over 10 years, causing flooding. She also highlighted market access issues, aiming to make Pathumwan and other Bangkok areas easier for commerce, with affordable food accessible to residents at a standard that supports living costs and hygiene.
These problems have long been overlooked. She is determined to make them key agendas for Pathumwan district, which can be resolved through teamwork by the People’s Party, committed to policies that make Bangkok easier to live in and a city that cares for everyone.
Mr. Chaiwat said the district-specific agendas they propose reflect a real understanding of the areas, with on-the-ground experience and genuine representation of local people. The People’s Party’s BMC candidates’ agendas highlight the importance of cooperation between the Bangkok governor and councilors because if the governor does not understand each district’s specific problems, policies cannot be designed or solutions provided that meet residents’ needs.
Mr. Chaiwat concluded by saying this governor election is not just about selecting an individual to manage the city but choosing a team capable of reaching and understanding people from all districts and groups. This team will push for solutions tailored to each Bangkok area. The People’s Party team is ready to manage Bangkok to be a city where living, trading, family care, and commuting are easy, and where the city genuinely cares for its people.
