Government Invites Public to Join Bangkok Pride 2026 on 31 May, Highlighting Success of Marriage Equality Law

The government invites the public to join Bangkok Pride 2026 on 31 May, reaffirming the success of the marriage equality law and pushing Thailand to host World Pride 2030. The event features a parade nearly 5 kilometers long and a performance by the Mor Lam band Rabiab Wathasinsilp.

On 29 May 2026, Second Lieutenant Patchdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government invites everyone to be part of the “Bangkok Pride Festival 2026” on Sunday, 31 May. This year’s event is held under the theme “Patch the World with Pride” and marks an important step forward to promote Thailand as the host for the global event “World Pride 2030.”

Over time, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has closely collaborated with civil society networks to promote gender equality issues and support various activities through the Gender Equality Promotion Fund.

This year, beyond advancing and supporting the nationwide expansion of the Pride Festival, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has partnered with Bangkok Pride to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation among partners to drive pilot provinces for gender equality (Pride City Network) across 58 provinces. This is to prepare and support Thailand’s bid to host World Pride 2030.

The event demonstrates Thailand’s regional capacity and readiness to welcome tourists and LGBTQ+ individuals globally. It is not limited to Bangkok but extends networks to local levels, aiming to create positive long-term impacts on human rights and the rainbow economy.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office revealed that the government has consistently prioritized human rights, diversity, and equality, working with all sectors to enact the marriage equality law. This year’s “Bangkok Pride Festival 2026” will feature a grand rainbow parade nearly 5 kilometers long, stretching from Khlong Chong Nonsi Park toward Silom Road and Rama 1 Road. It also showcases traditional Isan culture, highlighted by the legendary Mor Lam band “Rabiab Wathasinsilp” performing on the Pride Stage at Thephasadin Stadium.
