
The Prime Minister welcomed the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, commending his role in advancing Thai-Dutch cooperation and promoting further investment in future industries.
At 3:30 p.m. on 29 May 2026, in the Prime Minister's office on the second floor of the Thai Khu Fah Building at Government House, Mr. Remko Johannes van Wijkarden, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul on the occasion of his farewell before leaving office.
Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the two sides held discussions in a friendly atmosphere, reaffirming the longstanding close relationship between Thailand and the Netherlands. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Dutch government for supporting the "Thai Costume: Knowledge, Craftsmanship, and National Thai Dress Practice" project in The Hague, which was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya and achieved great success, reflecting the strong friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations.
The Dutch Ambassador stated that Thailand and the Netherlands are close allies with cooperation across many dimensions, especially economically, where numerous Dutch investors have played a key role in developing Thailand’s economy, particularly in the semiconductor, chip, advanced technology, and logistics industries. He praised Thailand's investment potential due to its well-connected logistics system in the region and political stability, expressing hope for increased future collaboration in future industries and modern technologies.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government prioritizes achieving tangible results from international cooperation to promote investment, job creation, labor skill development, and continuous improvement of Thai citizens’ quality of life. He welcomed investors from the Netherlands and the European Union, noting that the Board of Investment (BOI) currently offers comprehensive investment promotion measures to fully support targeted industries.
The Prime Minister added that during his recent visit to the French Republic, he learned that European investors view Thailand as increasingly capable in future industries, raising Thailand’s profile as an attractive investment destination for EU investors. Simultaneously, Thailand is advancing regulatory reforms to align with OECD standards, which will enhance the business environment and strengthen investor confidence in the long term.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister wished the Dutch Ambassador success in his new role and expressed hope to meet again in the future.
