Parliament Votes to Protect Chonnaphat, Revealing He Is a Government-aligned MP from Kla Tham Party People’s and Democrat Parties Disagree

Parliament’s voting results to protect “Chonnaphat” revealed he is a government-aligned MP from the Kla Tham Party, while the People’s Party and Democrat Party opposed.

On 29 May 2026, reporters reported the overall parliamentary vote, which was 308 to 126 against allowing Mr. Chonnaphat Naksua, MP for Songkhla from the Kla Tham Party, to be sent to acknowledge allegations and undergo questioning during the parliamentary session.

It was found that the 308 opposing votes mostly came from government-aligned MPs voting similarly, including MPs from the Phalang Tham Party, Pheu Thai Party, Prachachart Party, Palang Pracharath Party, Economic Party, Thai Sang Thai Party, and Pheu Chart Thai Party, as well as eight smaller coalition parties. Also, votes against sending him included those from the Kla Tham Party, his own party, and Mr. Suriya Wongaree, MP for Udon Thani from the People’s Party, who has exhibited defector behavior since the election.

Meanwhile, the 126 votes in favor mostly came from opposition MPs, including the People’s Party, Democrat Party, Thai Liberal Party, and Thai Pakdee Party. The two abstentions were Mr. Chuti Krairiksh, MP for Phitsanulok from the Phalang Tham Party, and Mr. Lertsak Patanachayakul, the second Deputy Speaker of the House, who presided over the meeting.

Additionally, three MPs abstained from voting: Mr. Jarayut Jaturapornprasith, Bangkok MP from the People’s Party; Mr. Natthapong Sumnotam, Samut Sakhon MP from the People’s Party; and Mr. Sahasawat Khumkhong, Chonburi MP from the People’s Party. The United Thai Nation Party, with two MPs, and the Thai Ruam Palang Party, with six MPs, did not register or participate in this vote.
