Government Launches MRT 4 Lines into Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40 Scheme, Covering 60% of Fare from 1 June to 30 Sept 2026

The government is advancing efforts to reduce living expenses by including four MRT lines in the 'Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40' program, which subsidizes 60% of fares from 1 June to 30 September 2026 via the 'Pao Tang' app.

On 30 May 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the government is implementing measures to assist the public in lowering living costs and maintaining purchasing power. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and MRT operators of the four lines—Blue, Purple, Yellow, and Pink—have joined the 'Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40' scheme under government policy to support travel expenses and promote convenient, safe, and economical public transportation.

The Deputy Spokesperson explained that eligible citizens can use their rights to pay MRT fares through the 'Pao Tang' application from 1 June to 30 September 2026. The government will subsidize 60% of the fare, while users pay 40%, with support capped at 200 baht per person per day and 1,000 baht per person per month. This will concretely help ease travel expenses for the public.

The government aims to improve citizens' quality of life by increasing access to quality public transit while reducing traffic congestion and urban pollution. Eligible users can purchase single journey tickets via the 'Pao Tang' app at ticket offices of all MRT stations on the four lines between 06:00 and 23:00. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cost-of-living relief measures and supporting public transportation use continuously to mitigate economic impacts and facilitate travel for all groups.
