Thailand Attracts Foreign Investment in Clean Energy Government Pushes to Become Regional Green Investment Hub

The government has revealed clear positive signals from foreign investors interested in entering the clean energy business in Thailand.

On 30 May 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that sustainability and clean energy have become central to modern industries. Major investors no longer focus solely on low production costs but choose destination countries with ready infrastructure, environmental standards, and verifiable renewable energy sources. During meetings with global business leaders, the Prime Minister emphasized that Thailand is fully prepared to be the region’s main investment base in renewable and clean energy, electric vehicles (EV), battery technology, advanced industries, digital, and artificial intelligence (AI). The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) receives full government support in logistics and supply chains.

The spokesperson added that to meet international standards and maintain competitiveness in export markets, the Thai government is systematically unlocking and advancing green policies. This includes accelerating progress with Thailand FastPass, a measure to facilitate and swiftly reform regulations, making it easier and faster for foreign investors to access renewable energy sources. The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is pushing for green industrial estates to cater to investors aiming to reduce carbon emissions in production processes.

Ms. Ratchada further said the Ministry of Industry is preparing plans to promote infrastructure investment funds to support future big projects such as floating solar farms, digital infrastructure, and AI systems. The Prime Minister sees clean energy not only as an environmental issue but as a new condition and rule for trade, investment, and employment in the future world. Thailand must seize this opportunity to attract the highest-quality investment funds into the country.
