Anucha and Abhisit Lead Democrat Party Team Campaigning at Sammakorn Market, Join Pride Month Event This Afternoon

Anucha, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok governor, accompanied by Abhisit and the party team, campaigned at Sammakorn Market, praising it as a model for developing other markets in Bangkok. He highlighted its convenience, cleanliness, and safety, and said he plans to join the Pride Month event this afternoon in Silom.

At 07:30 on 31 May 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, also known as James, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok governor, along with Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, and party executives including Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, Mr. Sakolthee Phattiyakul, Dr. Kadee Liewpairat, deputy party leaders, and Mr. Ong-art Klampaiboon, party leader advisor, jointly campaigned. They supported Mr. Attawit Sewiset, the Democrat Party candidate for Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) representing Saphan Sung district, at Sammakorn Market, Ramkhamhaeng, where shoppers and vendors warmly welcomed and greeted them along the route, taking photos in a friendly manner.

Anucha commented on the potential of Sammakorn Market, a private market that can serve as a model for developing other Bangkok markets, especially in adopting technology. He explained that the platform using technology will not only process data but also make market information easily accessible, showing highlights of Sammakorn Market and the top 10 most purchased shops. The system can link to payment scanning, enabling real-time weekly rankings of who buys what and what items are most popular. This data can be used for comprehensive analysis, including health and safety information, proper fat disposal, and waste management.

If given the chance to manage Bangkok, he would help upgrade other markets to higher hygiene standards, encourage vendors to participate in waste sorting and reduction, and deploy staff and CCTV cameras to facilitate convenience and ensure security, preventing criminals so that people can shop with peace of mind.

Plans to join the Pride Month event this afternoon in Silom.

When asked about the Democrat Party's policy during Pride Month in June, Anucha said the first step is to survey Bangkok's internal organizations to assess current support for sexual diversity and its extent. This will serve as a basis for policy and activities. He added that he will also attend the Pride Month event in Silom this afternoon.

Afterward, Anucha and party executives traveled to Ban Kru Daeng Learning Center, an agricultural tourism site and learning center based on the sufficiency economy philosophy, to collaborate with Mr. Cherdpant Tiaipiboon, the Democrat Party candidate for BMC representing Nong Chok district, to discuss promoting policies that generate income through community tourism and agriculture in suburban areas.

Plans to promote Bangkok's eastern zone as the city's kitchen.

At 09:00, Anucha's campaign team visited Ban Kru Daeng Learning Center, an agricultural tourism and sufficiency economy learning site, to discuss with Mr. Cherdpant, Democrat Party candidate for Nong Chok BMC, about pushing policies to boost income from community tourism and agriculture in suburban areas. Anucha stated that many residents in Bangkok's outer zones, especially the east like Nong Chok, still engage in agriculture, including rice farming and vegetable gardens. In Minburi, grass cultivation is also practiced. Most farmers inherit these practices through generations, resulting in limited returns.

The Democrat Party plans to promote Bangkok's eastern zone as “Agriculture for Bangkok's Kitchen” by advising and supporting farmers to grow high-demand alternative economic crops such as thyme, tarragon, and hydroponic vegetables. They aim to shift cultivation towards smart farming systems, possibly incorporating solar energy to reduce production costs.

Adding economic crop farming courses and pairing farmers with well-known restaurants across Bangkok.

Anucha further explained that Bangkok will provide knowledge and find markets through the Social Development Office, which oversees ten Bangkok Metropolitan Vocational Training Centers distributed throughout the city: Din Daeng 1 and 2, Khlong Toei, Prawet, Nong Chok, Bang Rak, Luang Por Thawisak, Kanchanasingha, Muan Bamrungsilp, and Athorn Sangkawattana.

Normally, vocational school curricula may not align with global trends (such as food and bakery, electrician, air conditioner repair, beauty services, etc.). Therefore, the new policy will introduce courses on economic crop farming to create new-generation agricultural entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Social Development Office or district offices will find markets and facilitate matchmaking, delivering premium produce directly to popular restaurants, Michelin Guide-starred venues, and fine dining establishments across Bangkok to generate tangible income and added value.

Confidence expressed that the Democrat Party team is ready to work immediately.

“Today's visit to Ban Kru Daeng Learning Center confirms that the Democrat Party has BMC members closely connected with communities for many years, such as Mr. Cherdpant Tiaipiboon. If trusted by citizens, he can immediately address issues and push these policies into practice once the council opens. Sometimes, Bangkok residents may not realize that rice and grass farming remain significant economic activities within the city. Our aim is to help by providing opportunities and envisioning a future where Bangkok can be more than what it currently is.”
