The Prachachon Party joined Bangkok Pride 2026 to emphasize that marriage equality is approaching 500 days and urged the government to promptly amend related laws to protect everyone’s rights and dignity. They also supported hosting World Pride to distribute opportunities across the country and promote inclusivity.
On 31 May 2026 GMT+7, the Prachachon Party, led by Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party leader; Pichan Chaowapattanawong, party secretary-general; Sirikanya Tansakul, deputy leader; Weerayut Kanjuchat, deputy leader; Chaiwat Sathaworawijit, Bangkok gubernatorial candidate; Panida Mongkolsawat, deputy party spokesperson; Natthaya Boonpakdee, party-list MP; and Natheepat Kulsatthisit, former party-list MP and a promoter of marriage equality legislation, participated in the Bangkok Pride Parade 2026.
The Prachachon Party’s contingent was sixth in the procession, themed in orange as “Patch of Dignity.” The parade began at Lido Connect and proceeded to Thephasadin Stadium. Despite rain early in the event, the atmosphere remained lively, with enthusiastic public participation throughout the march.
The party leader said that Pride Month each year is not only a time to celebrate progress but also a crucial milestone to reflect on what more Thai society can do. Approaching 500 days since Thailand enacted marriage equality laws, while this is commendable, significant challenges remain. More than 50 laws have yet to be amended to align with marriage equality, directly affecting the rights of many couples. The Prachachon Party will continuously monitor this issue.
This includes pushing forward other legislation such as anti-discrimination laws and continuing consultations on recognizing gender identity or preferred honorifics voluntarily. These inputs will help refine the party’s bill to reflect diverse societal perspectives before submitting it to parliament. The Prachachon Party is committed to advancing a society embracing sexual diversity, respecting human rights, and ensuring equal rights and dignity for all.
Natthaya spoke about Thailand’s bid to host World Pride 2030, saying the Prachachon Party sees it as a great opportunity. They want Thailand to host with the goal of promoting rights and equality. This bid will pressure the Thai government to overcome obstacles, restore rights and dignity, and improve the quality of life for the LGBTQIA+ community, especially by reforming relevant legal aspects.
Additionally, they want to see opportunities and participation spread to regional levels. Supporting World Pride events in various prepared provinces would demonstrate that gender equality and acceptance of sexual diversity are genuine priorities for Thai society. It would also broaden economic opportunities beyond central areas, preventing concentration solely in the capital.
