Government Reports Continued Strong Growth in Thai Tourism for 2025–2026, Garnering International Awards Reinforcing Success

The government announced that Thai tourism continues to grow strongly during 2025–2026, sweeping international awards and reinforcing its success, positioning Thailand as a destination for travelers from around the world.

On 1 June 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertvivattana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that despite global economic volatility and international uncertainties, the government has actively promoted proactive tourism. This has led Thailand to gain recognition on the international tourism stage in 2025–2026, reflecting success in elevating the Thai tourism industry to “quality, sustainability, and world-class experiences,” while reaffirming confidence in Thailand as a key destination for tourists worldwide.

Thai tourist attractions have received numerous global awards and rankings, such as “Koh Kradan” in Trang Province being acclaimed as one of the world’s best beaches. The Lanta Islands in Krabi Province won the Green Destinations Story Awards 2026 in the Nature & Scenery category at ITB Berlin in Germany. Doi Phu Kha National Park in Nan Province and the Old Town of Thakua Pa in Phang Nga Province also received sustainable tourism awards, reflecting development alongside natural resource conservation and preservation of local community lifestyles. Additionally, Chiang Khan in Loei Province and Uthai Thani Province were recognized as outstanding community-based tourism sites for environmental conservation and local participation.

Moreover, Bangkok was ranked by Forbes Travel Guide as one of the world’s leading luxury destinations. Phuket, Koh Samui, and Chiang Mai remain popular among quality tourists and Digital Nomads. The government is also advancing efforts to register “Chiang Mai, the Capital of Lanna” as a World Heritage Site to further enhance Thailand’s long-term tourism potential.

“Awards and global recognition demonstrate that the Thai tourism industry possesses world-class potential and quality, reinforcing Thailand’s role as a key destination for travelers worldwide. Government tourism measures effectively address the needs of all tourist groups and seasons, continuously attracting a growing number of quality modern travelers,” the spokesperson said.
