Chusak Hopes Constitutional Amendment Becomes a National Agenda with Cooperation from All Parties, Submission to Parliament on 4 June

Chusak revealed that the Pheu Thai Party will submit a draft constitutional amendment to the Speaker of Parliament on 4 June 2026, emphasizing the preservation of the form of government and hoping the amendment becomes a national agenda with cooperation from all parties.

1 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, in his capacity as the proposer of the constitutional amendment draft to revise Article 256 to Parliament aimed at creating a new constitution, stated that the Pheu Thai Party will submit the constitutional draft to the Speaker of Parliament on 4 June 2026. The amendment draft has 189 co-signatories from several parties: 72 from Pheu Thai, 30 from Bhumjaithai Party, 36 from Prachachon Party, 26 from Kla Party, 18 from Democrat Party, 5 from Prachachat Party, and 2 from Thai Ruam Palang Party.

, The Pheu Thai draft sets key frameworks that the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) must consider, such as maintaining Thailand as a unitary state that cannot be divided, governed under a democratic regime with the King as head of state. It must include fundamental principles of the rule of law, equality, oversight of state power, checks and balances among institutions per the constitution, and decentralization of power to local administrative organizations.

Mr. Chusak believes the Pheu Thai constitutional draft will be considered and approved by parliament members like other drafts, leading to the formation of a committee. He understands that differences in details from previous submissions can still be discussed and reconciled. "We want to see the creation of a new constitution as a national agenda that all parties must cooperate on, responding to the will of over 21 million people who voted in the referendum on 8 February," he said.
