On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Lt. Col. Patchdarasmit Thongsaluaykong, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the government supports the Bangkok Pride Festival 2026, the largest event of its kind in Southeast Asia. It has attracted attention from Thai citizens and tourists worldwide, reflecting Thailand’s image as an open society that respects diversity and values human dignity equally. This year’s festival is held under the theme “Patch the World with Pride.” It aims to connect people, ideas, and diverse identities to move forward together based on understanding and mutual acceptance.
“Bangkok Pride Festival 2026 is not just a celebration of diversity but a declaration of the strength of Thai society advancing on the foundations of equality, acceptance, and respectful coexistence,” Lt. Col. Patchdarasmit said.
This year’s event is driven by the concept of “Peace, People, and Pride.” “Peace” symbolizes a society free from discrimination and a safe space for everyone. “People” reflects respect for the rights and dignity of all individuals equally. “Pride” represents pride in identity and diversity as a driving force for society and the country’s creative economy.
Lt. Col. Patchdarasmit stated that the government aims to advance equality in all dimensions and build a society where everyone can live with dignity and equal opportunity. The success of the marriage equality law marks a historic step reflecting Thailand’s commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of all citizens, paving the way toward building an inclusive society in every aspect.
Furthermore, the success of Bangkok Pride Festival 2026 is a key milestone in Thailand’s bid to host World Pride 2030. This event will serve as an important platform to showcase the nation’s capabilities to the world, reaffirming Thailand’s role as an open country that respects diversity, human rights, and welcomes people from all cultures.
Thailand’s push to host World Pride 2030 is not merely about holding a global event but a declaration to the world that Thailand is ready to be a regional hub for equality, human rights, and a creative economy. It builds on the power of diversity to foster economic growth, tourism, and the rainbow economy, creating long-term opportunities for citizens and the nation.
“The government believes equality is the foundation of a strong society, and diversity is the power of the future. Supporting Bangkok Pride Festival and driving Thailand’s bid for World Pride 2030 is more than organizing a global event; it is a message to the world that Thailand is ready to become a society of opportunity, equality, and pride for all,”
