Chadchart Campaigns in Lat Krabang, Plans to Continue Flood Solutions if Re-elected Meets Former MP Im and Sister Offering Support

Chadchart campaigns in Lat Krabang, aiming to continue flood solutions and drainage tunnel projects if re-elected as governor. He urges his supporters to respect opposing views and avoid conflict. He met former MP Im, who came with her sister to offer advice and expressed readiness to support him.

On 1 June 2026, Chadchart Sittipunt, candidate for Bangkok governor, campaigned at Robinson Lifestyle Mall in Lat Krabang to check progress on the Lat Krabang elevated road project. He also met with locals to listen to their concerns at the mall area. Throughout his visit, many people asked to take photos and offered encouragement, with several expressing their wish for Chadchart to continue his work.

Chadchart said that his visit to Lat Krabang was well received by residents. He views Lat Krabang as an important area of Bangkok due to its large size, substantial population, and role as a key economic zone. Over the past four years, Bangkok has worked to address major issues such as traffic and flooding. The Lat Krabang elevated road project has opened the outbound lanes and is set to open the inbound lanes on 3 June, expected to ease traffic congestion. Other infrastructure developments include improving major roads, connecting routes, building a hospital, and constructing a large sports center in Romklao housing area.

The main issue residents raised remains flooding, as Lat Krabang depends on drainage through Khlong Prawet Burirom, which has limitations due to its meandering shape causing slow water flow. The next step is to build a drainage tunnel connecting Khlong Prawet Burirom to Bung Nong Bon to speed up water discharge into the Chao Phraya River, along with constructing levees and dredging canals along the route. This will help reduce flooding impacts in Lat Krabang, Suan Luang, Phatthanakan, and surrounding areas.

Chadchart said that if given the chance to govern Bangkok again, he would accelerate the drainage tunnel project and enhance drainage networks in alleys and villages, especially after ordinance revisions now allow Bangkok to repair and maintain roads and public utilities designated as public spaces. This enables more comprehensive flood problem management.

Regarding concerns about heavy rains and the possibility of flooding with him only an observer, Chadchart said he was not worried. Although currently only an observer, water management systems and sensors have been installed that function independently of personnel. He cited heavy rain on 31 May, with over 90 millimeters in Bangkok, where related agencies managed and expedited water drainage as planned. He expressed pride in the Bangkok Drainage Department team for their efficient flood management.

On the online political attacks against supporters (known as IO Som), Chadchart said all sides should respect differing opinions and avoid retaliatory conflicts. Instead, they should exchange policy ideas and constructive proposals beneficial to the public, as this approach is creative and aligns with democratic principles.

While Chadchart was campaigning, Theerarat Samertwanich, former Pheu Thai MP, arrived with her sister Chawalpatch Samertwanich, candidate for Lat Krabang councilor, to meet him. Chawalpatch said she ran under Pheu Thai but supports Chadchart and reported local issues, including traffic congestion in front of the mall. If Chadchart becomes governor for a second term, she hopes sensors can be used to regulate traffic there. Chadchart asked if the newly built pedestrian bridge improved traffic and about flooding in Soi Kingkaew heading to Suan Luang Rama 9. Theerarat said funding had been secured and work was underway. Chadchart added that he and Theerarat had worked together for a long time when she was his superior as Deputy Minister of Interior. He encouraged Chawalpatch to work hard, engage with residents, and hinted at possible future collaboration. Theerarat thanked Chadchart, saying, "If you love Im, you must love Im's sister too."

Chadchart then introduced himself and handed out policy leaflets to shoppers and visitors at the mall, who responded positively and often asked to take photos with him. Some people held leaflets showing a half-face portrait of Chadchart to cover their own faces. Chadchart encouraged everyone to read the leaflets, which outline many policies already implemented and those planned to continue.
