Watchara Vows Monthly Follow-up on Tax Collection from Thaksin Until 17 Billion Baht Recovered

Watchara revealed that the Ministry of Finance sent a letter responding to the tax collection issue involving Thaksin Shinawatra, pointing out it falls under the jurisdiction of the Revenue Department. He vowed to follow up monthly until the country recovers the full 17 billion baht.


On 1 June 2026, Watchara Petchthong, former MP of the Democrat Party, said he received a letter from the Office of the Minister of Finance, reference กค 0102/1592 dated 22 May 2026. The letter stated that regarding his letter dated 18 May 2026, addressed to the Minister of Finance requesting enforcement of tax payment collection from Thaksin Shinawatra as per the Supreme Court ruling no. 6890/2568 dated 14 August 2025, the details have been acknowledged.

The Office of the Minister of Finance stated that the matter falls under the authority of the Revenue Department, so they have forwarded the issue for the Revenue Department to consider and act accordingly within their duties and powers. The Revenue Department will inform Watchara of their decision directly. This is for your information.

Watchara stated: “I would like to thank Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Minister of Finance, for instructing the Office of the Minister to reply to my letter. I will continue to follow up with the Minister every month until Thailand receives the 17 billion baht in taxes from Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, as per the Supreme Court’s ruling.”
